Herbal walk in the Tegernsee valley

A hot summer day in June – invited to an herb-walk, employees and interested parties explored the surrounding forests and meadows around Eham’s work place.

Elisabeth Dießl, an expert in traditional European medicine and the author of the book “Unser heimisches Superfood,” (translates to “Our home-grown superfood”) went in search of elderberry, dandelion, raspberry and blackberry leaves together with her guests. How does one handle a nettle without hesitation? What are the best places to discover local superfoods?

Afterwards Elisabeth showed the participants directly how these discovered plants can be processed. The participants diligently withered out leaves and seeds. Mixed with yoghurt, the basis for a delicious snack was created in no time at all. A cold drink made from found blackberries further advanced the culinary experience.

The excursion is a vivid reminder that our homeland – the Tegernsee valley – offers not just a beautiful scenery, but also can provide all the nutrients that we would otherwise only have suspected in exotic super fruits.
